GEORGE TOWN, CAYMAN ISLANDS — The Cayman Islands U14 Girls National Team departs today for Trinidad & Tobago to compete in the 2025 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) U14 Challenge Series Girls, taking place August 15–24.
Cayman will compete in Tier II, Group C, alongside Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Turks & Caicos Islands and Guyana. The squad will open its campaign on Friday, Aug. 15 against Turks & Caicos. The full group stage match schedule is:
• Friday, Aug. 15 | 3 p.m.: Cayman Islands vs. Turks and Caicos
• Sunday, Aug. 17 | 1 p.m.: Cayman Islands vs. Anguilla
• Monday, Aug. 18| 1 p.m.: Antigua & Barbuda vs. Cayman Islands
• Tuesday, Aug. 19 | 1 p.m.: Guyana vs. Cayman Islands

“This is an incredible opportunity for our players to experience international competition and measure themselves against quality opposition,” said Head Coach Alex Gonzalez. “We’ve had a strong preparation phase, and now it’s about performing, learning and representing the Cayman Islands with pride.”
The tour follows a successful preparation camp in the Dominican Republic last month, where the team gained valuable match experience against both national and club-level opponents. The team’s players are:

The 2025 CFU U14 Challenge Series Girls features 23 Member Associations competing in a two-tier format. Tier I includes eight teams split into two groups of four, while Tier II — where Cayman will compete —has three groups of five teams.
In Tier II, the three group winners and the best second-place team across all groups will advance to the semifinals. Semifinal winners will play for the Tier II title, with the losing sides competing for third place.
Introduced in 2018, the CFU U14 Challenge Series is a key developmental tournament, designed to provide young players with their first exposure to international football.
The event also supports referee and match official development across the region and Cayman-based officials Kedeen Foster and Sophie Roberts were selected to officiate in the tournament. Roberts will make her international debut, marking a milestone for her refereeing career. CIFA extends its best wishes to both referees as they showcase Cayman’s officiating talent on the regional stage.
